  • School Director

    Position Type: Full-time

    Overview:

    Moses Lake Christian Academy is seeking a born-again Christian who is a dynamic and visionary leader for the position of School Director. As a private non-denominational Christian school serving students from pre-school through 12th grade, MLCA is dedicated to providing a high-quality education rooted in Christian values. We exist to partner with parents who seek to graduate young men and women who glorify Christ, shape culture, and shine the light of God's truth in every endeavor of life. MLCA seeks to develop character, Integrity, and maturity, which is the development of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.     Job Description

  • Elementary Teacher

    Position Type: Full-Time, Contracted, Exempt  

    Salary Range: $30,000-50,000

    We are looking for a passionate Elementary School Teacher to help students develop and flourish academically and spiritually throughout the school year. An Elementary School Teacher develops ways to help students grow in the classroom by setting an excellent example and providing lessons that meet the needs of all students while upholding the mission and vision of MLCA. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Managing a classroom, communicating and teaching multiple subjects clearly and within the bounds of school procedures.

    • Giving and grading assignments, homework and tests

    • Helping students prepare for standardized testing

    • Monitoring each student’s progress and providing extra mentorship as needed.

    • Meeting with students and parents to discuss education-related issues and attending staff meetings

    • Establishing a developmentally appropriate, positive, inclusive and safe learning environment

    REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

    • Proven work experience as an Elementary School Teacher or similar role

    • The ability to communicate in ways students will understand, as well as with parents and administrators

    • Confidence speaking in front of groups and enforcing classroom rules

    • The creativity to create engaging lesson plans and inspire students to learn

    Job Summary: Reporting to the Director, the School Business Manager (“SBM”) is a senior, school-based leadership role that oversees all finance and operations functions necessary to run a high-performing school. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, purchasing, facilities, student data as it applies to tuition and budget, regulatory compliance, human resources, and onboarding. The SBM serves as a key member of the school’s Leadership Team, ensures that the school’s operations meet high standards of operational excellence, and enables instructional leaders and staff to focus on driving strong student achievement outcomes.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting with at least ten years of recent accounting experience to include HR and supervisory experience.
    • Preferred: Masters degree, CPA
    • Accepts and supports the school’s statement of faith and agrees to adhere to the lifestyle agreement. 
    • Demonstrated financial reporting and supervisory expertise and experience.
    • Computer experience on various software systems including QuickBooks.Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite software – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

    PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manages direct reports and holds them accountable for financial goals and outcomes.
    • Works closely with the Director to develop the school’s annual budget and actively manages the school budget throughout the year.
    • Manages the school purchasing process by establishing clear systems for staff to request items, placing orders with vendors, tracking delivery, and coding and submitting purchase orders, invoices, and reimbursement requests; approves school purchases under a specific financial threshold.
    • Serves as the first school-based point of contact regarding finance and works with the bookkeeper to ensure financial compliance and reporting.
    • Serves as a liaison to the Finance Committee of the Board.
    • Ensure proper internal controls are in place and followed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

    FINANCE

    • Oversees all daily accounting functions including AP, billing, collections, and deposit functions. 
    • Prepares bank reconciliations.
    • Prepares and presents financial reports to the Finance Committee of the Board. Performs research to determine answers to questions from the Finance Committee and Board as it relates to the financial status of the school.
    • Provides an accounting firm with completed financial reports for the preparation of the IRS Form 990.

    MONTH END

    • Perform month-end duties including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
    • Provide month-end financial reports to the Finance Committee and Director. 
    • Perform required new hire reporting each month.

    STUDENT ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

    • Annually calculates tuition & enrollment fees.

    • Serves parents in financial matters.

    • Follow up on delinquent accounts.

    • Develops and manages student enrollment strategy to ensure that the school begins the academic year with full classes and actively fills open seats.

    HUMAN RESOURCES

    • Maintain HR files. Assists with background and reference checks.
    • Assist with benefits administration to employees including 401k, Tuition discounts, Insurance benefits, etc.
    • Manages the school’s supply and asset inventory (e.g., computers, textbooks).
    • Partners with the Director on the new hire process (e.g. interviews, new hire offer letters, onboarding).
    • Ensures that school staff have complete, current, and accurate employee files and certifications; all personnel interacting with students have background checks on file; and schools comply with all areas of legal compliance.

    Working Conditions: Duties are generally performed indoors in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. When working in the presence of safety hazards, the employee is expected to follow company safety rules and use proper personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, full leather shoes, etc. MLCA is an alcohol and drug-free workplace.

  • Substitute Teachers

    Position Type: On call

    Salary Range: $125 per day

    We are looking for passionate substitute teachers to add to our call list to fill in when needed throughout the school year. Substitutes are willing to step in where needed and follow the teacher’s lesson plans.
